Jewelers Mutual, JV Canada announce partnership

Neenah, Wis.--Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company and the Jewellers Vigilance Canada (JVC) have formally partnered to help protect the Canadian jewelry and watch industry.

While JVC, a Canadian jewelry industry watchdog and crime prevention association, and Jewelers Mutual have been working together since 2004, this formal partnership more strongly links the companies. JVC will now exclusively endorse Jeweler?s Mutual insurance products protecting jewelry businesses and individual owners, and Jewelers Mutual will provide its insured with JVC?s crime prevention package.

?Jewelers Mutual is proud to partner with this organization that has made such significant contributions to the war on jewelry crime,? David Sexton, vice president of loss prevention at Jewelers Mutual and a JVC board member, said. ?With Jewelers Mutual?s help, JVC continues to work closely with Canadian law enforcement to help them better understand the crime threats that Canadian jewelers face.?

JVC recently published its first Canadian Annual Crime Report, providing an analysis of crimes against jewelers reported to JVC throughout last year. The organization has also initiated a program that acknowledges that achievements of law enforcement agencies and departments in Canada that have made significant contributions to protecting the jewelry industry.

Now working together, JVC and Jewelers Mutual have a built a law enforcement database designed to send crime alerts to police officers. The tool has already contributed to several arrests, Jewelers Mutual said.
